Ramadhan : Abstaining Speeches

It's time to repent, make tons of good deeds and pray to the Almighty Allah S.W.T. for forgiveness and a place in his heavenly afterlife. Yup, as you all know, yesterday mark the first day of Ramadhan, a month of fasting and repentance. I shall not divulge in what Ramadhan entails of, read it up on the internet, tons of reading material or just watch some tele, they are bound to be a lot of commercial or programme that talks about it. Don't be a lazy bum and learn a little.

But today I want to nag about the restraints and constraints that we are supposed to adhere during this holy month. As Muslim everywhere knows, syaiton nir rojim and all of his minions and underlings are locked away, relieving us from all the bad temptations and negligence that has been corrupting us the whole year (following the Islamic calendar) up to this month. They are cast away so that we, as our pure self can act and make a decision about our life without that spiritual influence.  This is the month where Muslim are given a chance to make as many good deeds as they can. Not saying that they can't before but whatever good they do (in Allah's name) during this month, the rewards we got are doubled or tripled or even more (I'm not quite sure how much is it, actually, Wallahuallam). So, we must do our best to make full use of this hallowed month.

However, there is a lot of thing to abstain in this month. Much less needed to know is to abstain from eating or drinking (mainly putting something in our organs) during the day, until the break of dusk which signals iftar. And we all know how tempting it is to go about our days like normal, trying not to be pissed at every little annoyance that happened during this month. My most concern goes to the verbal monitoring of one's own self.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm a vulgar person. I fucking curse a lot. Like really, a fucking whole lot. In my written words? Yes. Spoken? Even worse. And not to mention all the trash-talking someone from their backs, insulting, gossiping, and so on. So, I pray for myself, and for all of you Muslim out there, let's try NOT to do it this month. Especially when we are fasting. It's not easy, I know. But must learn to do it. We must train ourselves from doing all of those things. If not, all our fast will gone to waste. Well, I'm just saying again, I don't know much whether your fast is accepted by Allah S.W.T. or not. Wallahuallam.

But as a human being, we must learn to not do those things. It's rather simple really. If you have the slightest inkling to start yapping away all those curses, insults and what-not, just shut the fuck up.

It is what this month is all about right? Abstaining to its core? So, refrain yourself from vulgar manners of discussion, elude those nasty gossips when your friends started to brew them, eschew yourself from being in a position that will make you spat out curses and malicious outburst, and abjure from all these non-appropriate behaviours. I'm not saying I am the better person, but it's an effort to remind ourselves about it and hope that we can both learn from this memo.

So, just remember, when you're about start saying something ugly, simply back away, excuse yourselves (however abruptly or awkwardly), and leave that conversation/situation and spare yourselves from ruining your fast's rewards. Remind yourself.....

So, that's it for now. Happy Ramadhan to all of you.
